2.5 Setting Up Your Devices

You can use the Vault in a browser without installing anything. Add compatible apps when you want synchronization or native notifications.

Choose the service

• Files: use a Nextcloud desktop or mobile client and connect it to https://vault.lightdrive.one.
• Email: use IMAP at mail.lightdrive.one:993 with SSL/TLS and SMTP at mail.lightdrive.one:587 with STARTTLS.
• Calendar: use CalDAV at https://vault.lightdrive.one/remote.php/dav/.
• Contacts: use the CardDAV address shown in Chapter 14.
• Ebooks: create a reader access key in Books settings and add the displayed OPDS catalog to a compatible reader.

Use the right password for each service

• Files and Calendar: create a Vault app password under Settings → Security → App & device access when the client cannot complete browser sign-in.
• Email: create an Email client password under Settings → Security → App & device access. Choose Email & contacts for an app that also supports CardDAV, or Email only to limit access to IMAP and SMTP.
• Contacts only: open Contacts → Mobile & app connections and create a Contacts-only client password.

Give every app and device a distinct name so you can revoke only that credential later. The main Vault password does not authenticate to IMAP, SMTP, or CardDAV.
